I've been honored to serve this County for more than 9 years, the last couple as Finance Committee Chairman. With your help, I can continue to serve my community as I served my Country in the Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve for over 20 years.

I have been very blessed in my life. I have a beautiful wife, a wonderful family, and I was born in the greatest Country in the world. Because of those many blessings, I have always felt a call to service, and a personal need to earn the blessings I have received. That is why I joined the Marine Corps and went into service right out of law school. I was blessed to have my family pay for school, so I did not ask my Country to do that for me. I simply wanted to serve.

After a tour of active duty, I continued to serve in the Reserves, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retiring in 2011. Serving my Country in the Marine Corps was the greatest honor of my life. The Marines are a remarkable group of men and women from all races, religions, and walks of life. My service with these heroes, most far better than me, has guided my life's journey.

When my time to serve in the Marine Corps was coming to an end, I wanted to find another way to serve and was elected to the DuPage County Board. There, as with the Marine Corps, my focus has been on service to others, not to self. I refused to take the generous pension that was offered for this part-time position or to take the health care benefits. I took on the additional duties of serving first as Chairman of Health and Human Services, and then as Chair of the Finance Committee, along with serving on the DuPage Board of Health.
